Norwood Young America: Home of the Oak GROVE Senior Residence
Two communities beating as one

Norwood Young America main streetThe cities of Norwood and Young America combined in 1996 to redefine two quaint communities into one that is richer, stronger, and focused on growth. The qualities that attracted residents to both cities for decades made this a natural merger of history and heritage in a community that is safe, friendly, and relaxed.

Just 35 miles west of Minneapolis, Norwood Young America (NYA) is near the crossroads of Highways 212 and 5, providing quick access to big-city amenities and offering a haven for job-commuters.working woman with computer

The lovely Oak Grove Senior Residence is in the heart of downtown, built on the former site of the Oak Grove Dairy processing plant. The complex shares its lower level with the NYA Library and City Offices. Its brick and stone façade complements the classic architecture of this historic business district, with many buildings listed on the National Register of Historical Places.

Active residents enjoy the city’s proud German heritage at annual events such as the Taste of Norwood Young America and Stiftungsfest, “A Founders Day Celebration.” They take advantage of outdoor recreational activities both in and around the city, such as golf, hiking trails, lakes, and parks. A short walk from the residence are coffee shops, cafes, and the local Dairy Queen.
